About the Event

Anxiety is one of the most common mental health issues experienced by children & young people and its a very normal experience, particularly for young people entering into adolescence who are going through significant changes both physically and psychologically.

But when does this normal experience become something we need to be concerned about? How can we tell what’s “normal” and when we need to get help?

This workshop is for parents and teachers of children and adolescents who wish to develop an awareness of Clinical Anxiety and guides you through the following:

· What Anxiety is – Physiological and neuropsychological explanation of anxiety using the Fight-Flight Response

· How Anxiety develops and is maintained over time

· The Experience of clinical anxiety and how it is diagnosed

· Causes of Anxiety

· Panic Attacks

· Recognising your Childs Early warning signs

· Practical Strategies for supporting your child with Anxiety including how to talk about anxiety with your child without coming across as invasive or “fussing” so that you can maintain clear pathways of communication whilst maintaining positive relationships.
